On February 5, 2020, Dr. José Nart defended the position of Professor of Periodontology at the International University of Catalonia (UIC) in Barcelona, examined by three professors and two tenured professors from different Spanish universities. After having received favorable accreditations from the public evaluating bodies, Dr. Nart successfully obtained the category of Full Professor of the dental specialty of periodontology. This academic category can be obtained after having developed a long teaching and research career of more than 10 years.
Among the most outstanding merits of Professor Nart are his training in periodontics and implants at the University of Tufts, Boston, USA; obtaining the American specialty of periodontics and dental implants; the title of doctor in dentistry; more than 13 years of teaching at the undergraduate level in dentistry and Master in periodontics and implants, the direction of the master’s degree in periodontics and implants at the UIC-BCN for more than 10 years, the vice dean of research for two years, the position of general secretary of the Spanish society of periodontics and osseointegration (SEPA) for 3 years and the current position of vice president of the same and its foundation. In addition, Professor Nart has more than 75 publications of the highest scientific level in periodontics and dental implants, the direction of more than 10 doctoral theses and the obtaining of numerous national and international scientific awards.
